On Monday March 2nd at the LEI in The Hague we had a productive afternoon exploring the APF Kenya country focus among a number of Agri-ProFocus members. Present were Agriterra, DGIS/DDE, ETC, Heifer, HIVOS, KIT, Oxfam Novib, SNV, Solidaridad, and WUR. Both ICCO and Oikocredit are very interested but could not make it to the meeting.
After a short presentation we shared information on what each organisation is doing in Kenya on farmer entrepreneurship and support to producer organisations. Also we explored possible entry points for the country focus. These will be shared with SNV Kenya to make sure that the current work on writing a synthesis paper builds on these ‘criteria and possible entry points’.
The collective APF members present have decided to work towards a multi-stakeholder workshop in which both local stakeholders and representatives from the APF members will jointly develop a strategy. KIT and Agriterra have volunteered to join SNV Kenya and the Agri-ProFocus support office in the prepration team for the organisation of the multi-stakeholder workshop to be held in Kenya in May 2009.
