Whereas Prof. Rabbinge thought the ‘Who will feed the World?’ report of Oxfam Novib was outdated, Prof. Van der Ploeg considered it a good step in giving increased attention to small ‘peasant’ farmers. Both Jan Kees Vis of Unilever and Jos van Campen of Royal Cosun argued for better political and institutional support and regulations in order to facilitate companies’ work for a more sustainable sourcing future.

Wageningen UR (University and Research centre) and Agri-ProFocus organised an Ethiopia platform meeting last week titled “Research for development in Ethiopia”. The aim of this meeting was to present and exchange information about key research activities in which Wageningen UR is engaged in Ethiopia.
