Expert Meeting ‘Beyond Knowledge-Sharing’

Date: Tuesday October 22nd, 2013
Time: 13.00-17.30, including cocktail
Location: HAS University of Applied Sciences
Max. no. of participants: 75

Are you a professional who supports entrepreneurial farmers in emerging countries? Are you searching for ways and means to support those men and women, going from ‘to-know’ and ‘to-understand’ to ‘to-act’? Are you looking for the latest developments in relevant training methods and good practices?

Agri-ProFocus members MDF, ICRA and HAS University of Applied Sciences are organising the expert meeting: ‘Beyond knowledge-sharing’. If the above appeals to you and your organisation’s daily practice, you would not want to miss this event! The afternoon will be all about turning your knowledge-sharing practices upside down: ‘flipping your mind’.

Keynote speaker Harry Starren, former CEO of De Baak (VNO-NCW), will kick off, putting us in the shoes of the practitioners we are supporting.

Agri-ProFocus professionals and other experts introduce their experience and best practice during the following explorative workshops:

1. Flipping your Science Article: Create your “comic strips” as a communication vehicle
A picture is worth a 1000 words. Comics are a powerful means of communication and should be part of the toolbox of every Agri-ProFocus member. In cooperation with MDF

2. Flipping the Pages: Put your publication into life by turning it into a coaching track
F&S, Hivos and KIT share their experience of developing an on-the-job coaching track out of a publication. In cooperation with Fair & Sustainable

3. Flipping the Time Frame: The power of lifelong learning
When government services are almost absent, how do you provide the necessary farmer services? Experience the impact of a long-term commitment to a cluster of interrelated SMEs in animal husbandry. A case from Afghanistan, in cooperation with DCA-VET (Dutch Committee for Afghanistan-Veterinary Programs) and HAS University of Applied Sciences

4. Flipping the Functionalities: Making the utmost of ICT
A story of how the internalisation of ICT changed the negotiation power of the female farmer entrepreneur. A case from Uganda, in cooperation with ICRA

5. Flipping Reality: How to bring a (long-distance) reality into your training session?

6. Flipping Perspectives: Increasing performance through real-life simulations
Learning in the spotlight: experiencing complex, authentic situations through real-life simulations, either face-to-face or via long-distance learning. Workshop by Thomas Lans en Miel Hooijdonk of Quente: learning for living
