History

In May 2004, the Minister of Development Cooperation set up a commission led by Mr. G. Doornbos . The commission was asked to investigate whether a partnership of Dutch organisations could be established to specifically and effectively address the needs and strengthen the capacities of producer organisations. The commission Doornbos presented its conclusions in September 2004 in a report entitled: 'Action plan of strategic partnership to strengthen producer organisation in the South'.

After the report was released an interim board of directors and secretariat set to work to put the plan into action. Agri-ProFocus was officially established in March 2005 with the election of a board of directors and appointment of a director for the secretariat.
